Alicia Gonzalez, MSN, RN, CS

I am Alicia Gonzalez, a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing. I have a Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN), am licensed by the State of North Carolina as a Registered Nurse (RN) and am certified by the American Nurses’ Association as a Clinical Specialist (CS).

I have worked in the field of psychiatric nursing for over 35 years, in both inpatient and outpatient care. I have worked at North Duke Psychotherapy Offices since 1999. Areas of focus for therapy are depression and anxiety, trauma, and borderline personality disorder. In 1995 I received intensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) by Marsha Linehan, PhD. I provide individual DBT and lead a consultation team for therapists learning DBT. I have also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Level 1 and 2, and in Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS).

Born in Honduras, I speak Spanish and am also able to provide psychotherapy in Spanish.

I am also an experienced speaker for both health care professionals and the general public. I have presented in large conferences as well as to small groups. Through the NC AHEC system, I have presented on a variety of topics, including stress management, mental health diagnoses, mindfulness, and Latinx culture. In 2017 I became a Certified Diversity Professional.

Our therapists are committed to ensuring your confidentially in a professional relationship that respects your individuality and dignity. All clinicians are licensed and comply with all ethical and professional standards for the practice of psychotherapy.
